Ruyton Girls School Junior Campus is the redevelopment of existing school facilities into a powerful three-level learning hub. The challenge was to integrate two dark and disparate buildings from different eras into a light, warm unified space where a love of learning, curiosity and creativity could be fostered and embraced.
Within this framework, the new campus provides an emphasis on the education process, augmented by architecture that is elegant, understated and melds harmoniously with the wider school. Flexible learning spaces and a seamless flow from indoors to out entrust the students with a sense of ownership, wellbeing and comfort as part of smaller groups and class levels as well as the bigger school community.
A vast central hub imbues the junior campus with a strong sense of connection. Girls, parents and teachers feel welcome to gather here, milling, chatting and playing. There is light and warmth, both in mood and surrounds.
